Evaluation Study on TWF Life Skills Programme 2014-15

The Life Skills Programme has been running for three years and it continues to deliver a highly satisfying learning experience to students, parents and teachers alike. The Programme receives very positive feedback from the participants, with an average of 90% of the participants affirming the value of the Programme and 95% appreciating the quality of the trainers. This report was a continuous evaluation to assess the effectiveness of this Programme and to explore the essential factors affecting the feasibility of the Programme to tailor itself to the needs of adolescents in Hong Kong.

The evaluation was conducted by Mr. Sung Wai-leung, an independent researcher, with input from Dr. To Siu-ming, Assistant Professor from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, as consultant. This evaluation study adopted a mixed methods approach which included both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The quantitative findings show that students gained a more positive evaluation of self-worth, a greater belief in their capability, an enhanced sense of meaningfulness, a higher satisfaction with life, an improved sense of control over life events, a more flexible and critical attitude towards Chinese cultural gender stereotypes, and a greater willingness to take part in personal and family financial management.
