Twenty years have passed since the Beijing Conference on Women launched a Platform for Action – the Ambassador will discuss the economic empowerment of women in the Asia-Pacific during that time, her personal experiences and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for women.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Frances Adamson is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia. She has previously served in the Australian Consulate-General in Hong Kong and as Representative of the Australian Commerce and Industry Office in Taiwan. In 2009 and 2010, Ambassador Adamson served as Chief of Staff to Stephen Smith, both as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defence. From 2005 to 2009, she was the Australian Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Ambassador Adamson holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Adelaide and speaks fluent Mandarin.
