Dr. Anita K.W. Chan

Associate Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies, Education University of Hong Kong

As a sociologist, Anita’s expertise lies in the areas of gender and masculinities studies, family practices, diversity and changes, transnational and cross-border mobilities, global childhoods, and educational equity. She received competitive research grants from the Research Grant Council (HKSAR), Public Policy Unit (HKSAR), and Australian Research Council.

In addition to her role at EdU HK, Anita is Board Member of Mother’s Choice, Independent School Manager of Fanling Kau Yan College, the Invited Reviewer for The Faculty Development Scheme of Research Grant Council (HKSAR), and a manuscript reviewer of reputable international academic journals including Mobilities, Urban Studies, Political Geography. She also serves as the External Examiner/ Assessor for various local universities.

 

Nathan Cheng

Student, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Nathan is pursuing a Bachelor of Quantitative Social Analysis at HKUST. He is taking a gap year in 2023-24 to be the Philanthropy Apprentice at Bloomberg, where he actively organises events and initiatives to serve those in need. He also dedicates his time as a Think Tank member at The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Nathan was honoured as one of the Top Ten Outstanding University Students by Hong Kong MingDe in 2022. Nathan's passion for environmental sustainability led him to achieve the Fix Our Climate Award in the HKUST Climate Challenge 2022.

Nathan is the alumnus of The Women’s Foundation’s T.E.E.N. Programme where he developed his awareness and interest in gender equality.

 

Donna Chu

Director and Associate Professor, School of Journalism and Communication, Chinese University of Hong Kong

Donna works on research about youth media culture, gender and media literacy. Prior to joining academia, she worked in different media sectors as a reporter, scriptwriter and television producer. In 2017, she founded Mars Media Academy, a social enterprise specialising in promoting media and information literacy. Mars Media Academy has designed and delivered workshops on fake news, fact-checking and internet culture, together with a recent documentary about beauty in the age of social media.

 

Brian Downie

Deputy Director – Legal, Procurement & Supply Chain, MTR Corporation Limited

Brian oversees the legal and central procurement functions at MTR Corporation where he has worked for the past decade. Through his career in both private practice and in-house, Brian has championed gender equality and seen the benefits it brings to individuals, teams and companies. Brian is on TWF’s Gender Equality & Inclusion Working Group and committed to increasing diversity and inclusion in Hong Kong. He believes in the importance of allies advocating and supporting gender equality through their words and actions.

 

Brian Henderson

Founder and Director, Whole Business Wellness Limited

Brian was Chief Operating Officer at Baker McKenzie and at Linklaters in a variety of global leadership roles. He is a board member and company secretary of The Women’s Foundation and was co-founding Chair of the TWF Male Allies Initiative. Brian was recognised for this as the 2017 American Chamber of Commerce Champion for the Advancement of Women. Brian founded Whole Business Wellness in 2020 to build wellness capabilities and thriving cultures using applied mindfulness, resilience building, experiential learning, culture change, yoga and his 30 years of business leadership experience.

 

Frosti Lau

Regional General Manager, Southwest Pacific, Cathay Pacific Group

Frosti is a Male Ally, locally born and raised in Hong Kong. In his role at Cathay Pacific Group, he oversees a range of different business functions in the region. He has worked in Hong Kong, Mainland China, South Africa and recently moved to Australia.

Frosti is currently co-sponsor for Cathay’s Gender Equity Network and was the co-chair of the TWF Male Allies Advisory Council from 2021-2023, comprising business leaders who leverage their collective influence and personal engagement to advance gender equality, within their organisations and more broadly across the Hong Kong business community.

 

Jennifer Wang

Business Transformation Program Manager APAC, Steelcase Asia Pacific

Jennifer holds a pivotal role as the Business Transformation Program Manager APAC, with 15 years of dedicated service at Steelcase. Throughout her tenure, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to business analytics, digital transformation, and project management. Jennifer is also a DEI champion within the region, actively fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion with a focus on promoting gender equality in the workplace. Since 2021, she has been an avid participant in TWF programs, engaging in mentorship programs, supporting Male Allies, and, in 2023, joining the Young Allies Steering Committee.
